Tamsin Philp

Sports and Soft Tissue Therapist, Pilates and Exercise Instructor, Nutrition Coach.

Tamsin has been a practising Sports and Soft Tissue Therapist in Torbay for over a decade. During her career her passion for learning and her curiosity about the human body has led her to deepen her knowledge and skills further and further.

Sports Therapy – Straight after gaining her qualifications in Swedish and Sports Massage in 2014, Tamsin joined Paignton Rugby Club as their 1st team Sports Therapist. There she gained a deeper understanding of sports injuries and learned effective rehabilitation techniques applicable to all sports. From Paignton, she moved to Ivybridge Rugby Club, for two seasons before swapping the rugby pitch for a basketball court. She worked with Great Britain Maxibasketball for three years, supporting their veteran players through two European Championships Competitions, and now she works for local legends, Plymouth Raiders, supporting their players on the court, rehabilitating injuries and mentoring student therapists from City College.

Pilates and Exercise Instruction – Tamsin began teaching Pilates in 2016, having qualified through South Devon College. Over the years she has developed her own unique style of teaching, incorporating traditional mat based Pilates and functional movement. Her knowledge of biomechanics, sports therapy and exercise prescription for injury allow her classes to be effective for muscle toning, but also safe for injury recovery, pain reduction and supporting movement and strength into older age.

Tamsin believes that good health begins with movement, so is passionate about empowering her clients to move in whatever ways they are able. She now offers a variety of exercise classes, creating a foundation for holistic health for every body. She particularly enjoys helping people unlock the doors to exercise, if they have barriers, whether physical or mental, such as a lack of confidence, neurodivergence, ill health or chronic pain.

Nutrition – Attend any type of session with Tamsin and she will talk about the four pillars of good health. These being movement, nutrition, quality sleep and stress reduction. Tamsin qualified in 2025 as a nutrition coach, because she wanted to help her clients achieve better all round health. With her 12-24 week tailored eating plans, she specialises in healthy, sustainable weight management, without the fad diet culture. Tamsin is also planning to add Nutrition Therapy to her list of qualifications in the next few years.

Oncology Support – With Tamsin’s extensive knowledge around holistic health, she wanted to find a way to support more clients through ill health. She therefore decided, in 2025, to begin practising Oncology Massage, and she plans to add Restorative Yoga and exercise referral for cancer patients to this area in early 2026. Tamsin’s empathy and compassion will, she hopes, make her a good therapist to support patients through a tough and frightening stage in their journey. She believes that human contact, gentle movement, and nurturing of the nervous system can not only help patients feel better in themselves, but it can also boost efficacy of treatment and improve long term outcomes.
